Where is Iqaluit?

Iqaluit is the capital of Nunavut and home to over 6,200 residents. Once known as Frobisher Bay, Iqaluit is situated on along the bay on Baffin Island. What was originally a military airbase during WWII has become a thriving city, priding itself on having all of the modern amenities while still keeping a strong cultural presence.

You’ve only to walk outside to see how culture continues to be embraced in the lives of everyone. With a wealth of natural attractions, local outfitters can help you experience Iqaluit. Whether it’s hiking along the Sylvia Grinnell River, sailing around the bay, exploring the land by ATV to view wildlife or just taking a walk around town to shop for specialty art and jewelry, you’ll find yourself wondering how you missed exploring this part of the world before now.

Please visit the website for the City of Iqaluit or the Baffin Regional Chamber of Commerce for more information.
